CD Review: Blackmore’s Night – Winter Carols

In 2006 Blackmore’s Night released Winter Carols which was the band’s sixth studio album and first holiday offering. The collection included many traditional carols in the band’s signature Renaissance style.  The album features such standards as “We Three Kings”, “I Saw Three Ships”, “Oh Christmas Tree” and many more.  The sound of the album is very consistent with the band’s other releases.  In 2017 Minstrel Hall Music will re-release Winter Carols in a special 2-disc edition featuring all the original tracks plus five live tracks recorded at Minstrel Hall as well as four versions of their 2013 single “Christmas Eve”.   If you are looking for something different this holiday season to bring you some holiday spirit or to de-stress after a day at the mall, Winter Carols might be just perfect for you.  Richie Blackmore’s orchestration is nothing short of beautiful and Candice Night’s warm vocals are comfortable and inviting.
